At the turn of the last century Shaikh Hamed bin Isa (1874 – 1942) received a mare from one of his kinsmen in Kuwait, Shaikh Mobarak The Great Al Sabah. The mare Musannah Safra Um El Jelit was mated with one of the Bahrain stallions and gave birth to Musannah El Hamra. Musannah El Hamra became one of Shaikh Hamed’s favourite mares and was famous for long distance races. From this Musannah descend the Musannahs in Bahrain today.
