It is said by some that the original Krushieh mare came from the Muteyer tribe – and by others that the original came from the Al Rasheed, Amirs of Hail from 1835-1924. Yet everyone agrees that the strain has been in Bahrain since the 1850’s. This old family of Krush is perpetuated through the tail female line, and is predominantly of bay colour.

The Stud Stallion, Krushan Speckled, was out of the dam Krush El Araibi which was bred by the then Shaikh of Amara, Mohammed El Araibi. He had brought her as a tribute to Shaikh Sulman (1895-1961) in the late 1940’s. Krush El Araibi was mated to Jellaby Althaani Speckled, and foaled the colt Krushan in 1952. She was then sent to King Saud . While in Saudi Arabia she changed hands, until eventually in the early 1960’s she arrived back in Bahrain as a gift to His Highness Shaikh Isa (1933-1999) unbeknownst to the gift giver that that she had left the island earlier. His Highness Shaikh Isa was very pleased to have old Krush back and kept her until she died of old age at Rufa Palace in 1976.
